2013 Lexus LS460

Disclosure:  Lexus let me test drive a 2013 LS460 for a week!

If your in the market for a top of the line luxury sedan that can comfortably seat five, has top safety features, advanced technology, drives like a dream and has enough trunk space for six plus suit cases than the Lexus LS460 may be the vehicle for you. The completely redesigned 2013 LS460 AWD has an all-aluminum 4.6-liter V8, making it 360 horsepower,  an 8-speed automatic transmission and boasts an EPA-estimated 16/23 mpg City/Highway. Driving this vehicle around for a week packed with kids was like a dream, read on to find out why!

Lexus LSThe ginormous 12-inch widescreen display is the very first thing you notice when you slide into the ultra comfortable LS drivers seat. It is easy for the driver and the front seat passenger to use due to optimal positioning. The entire system is operated through a mouse-style controller that I wish all vehicles came with! The climate, navigation, audio systems and all built-in Web-based apps  are controlled on the widescreen via the mouse.

If you happen to have 4 adults in the LS the Climate Concierge is a pretty awesome feature. It automatically monitors the temperature of four separate climate zones and adjusts not just the fans, but also the temperature of the seats and steering wheel individually so that each zone achieves its preset level of comfort as quickly as possible.

The heated/cooled the LS has are something I have never seen before. There is an automatic setting that links the air in the seats to the  temperature setting in the cabin. Meaning if you have your AC set to 66, the holes in the leather seat will pump 66 degree air to your back and butt which is great when it’s hot outside because those leather seats get hot hot hot!  You don’t have to use auto, you can also select a spot on the dial that blows out the temp you want.

The 16-way adjustable driver’s seat with auto slide-away and 12-way front passenger’s power seat both feature electronic height-adjustable headrests and seat belts make getting the perfect position easy and fast. Plus each seat has three memory settings available.

Lexus LS460 DashThe extra large back seat easily can fit three car seats. There are four lower anchors and three top tethers which allows you to LATCH connect the two seats on the outside but the center seat must be connected with a seat belt. Pictured below are two Diono R100’s and one Britax Frontier 85!

Car Seats in the back of Lexus LS460If you have a seat that needs to be rear facing the LS is the perfect vehicle for that because of the abundance of leg room in the rear seats.

Leg Room in back of Lexus LS460The 18 cu ft trunk is huge. The image below shows a Joovy Zoom 360 jogging stroller in the trunk with tons and tons of left over room. On our road trip we fit five camping chairs, a tent, five sleeping bags, two large suit cases, pool toys and more in the trunk with no issue at all.

Safety features are a plenty in the LS. Every 2013 Lexus LS 460 comes standard with antilock brakes, traction and stability control, front knee airbags, front side airbags, side curtain airbags and a rearview camera. Also standard is Lexus Safety Connect, which includes automatic collision notification, an emergency assist button, enhanced roadside assistance and a stolen vehicle locator. Extra options include the blind-spot warning system that includes a rear cross-traffic alert system, adaptive cruise control that features a pre-collision system that preps various vehicle systems when it detects a possible collision and an Advanced Pre-Collision system that grabs the drivers attention and can actually take evasive action if the driver fails to do so!

  6. Wow, that looks like a nice car but of course, out of my price range. I think my favorite feature is the different temperature zones though it might be weird to feel cool air up my back 🙂

  7. Tiffany Schmidt says

What an amazing car. Air conditioned seats? Yes, please! Now do these luxury features come in a minivan?! Ha.

  8. Karen Glatt says

This Lexus-IS 460 is absolutely gorgeous! I like the high quality interior and the black color is gorgeous! These cars are well made, and my former boss used to have a Lexus and he took some of us for a ride in it. I would love to own this amazing well made car!

  9. I love that it fits 3 car seats. We have had this issue before. All of my nieces and nephews plus my kids were born all within a few years time and we have had a hard time getting 3 car seat in my car.

  10. I LOVE Lexus cars! The look of them are amazing. Although I don’t care for the “wood” interirior, I don’t care for wood in cars period, but this car is pretty inside and out! If I had the money and not so many kids I would think about buying one! Mostly though my two options are a mini van or something similar that has more then 5 seats. Haha! 🙂

  11. What a beautiful car… too bad I can’t afford it!! I love how spacious the back seat is. Looks like a very comfortable ride!

  12. It fits 3 carseats!! I thought I had to buy a minivan after 2! haha! 😉

  13. I love the interior wood and 3 carseats

  18. Sherry Compton says

Very spacious and good for lots of people. It’s hard when cars just go by number names to keep track. 🙂

  19. Maria Iemma says

This would be the car of my dreams, with plenty of room and a very elegant look. I will have to save my money for a few years, but my dream will come true

  20. Sherry Compton says

I have several friends that have Lexus and love them. Roomy and secure with some style. It’s interesting how the seat are linked to the temperature.

  21. Since I know I’d never be able to have such a beautiful car I loved just reading about it in your review to rub it in. lol But seriously an awesome review. I think it’s amazing how it gives you 4 different temperature zones plus all the other great pluses. 🙂
Thanks for the pictures and the post.
