For decades Lexus has placed at the top of reliability ratings.  In fact, JD Powers 2012 U.S. Vehicle Dependability Study ranked Lexus highest in vehicle dependability among all nameplates.

The 2013 Lexus LS 460 keeps up the tradition with an exceptional, unproblematic, luxury sedan.  With a fresh new makeover, the 2013 LS now gives buyers even more comfort, reliability and style.

Available in regular and extended (LS 460 L) wheelbases, the exterior modifications are not distinctly different.  Some of the new bold styling includes a new "spindle"-style grille along with new LED taillights, optional LED headlights, standard 18-inch wheels, and a commanding creased engine hood.  The F Sport package will definitely draw glances from passers-by with a more assertive image.

The interior has been updated as well with a more fashionable design and the materials quality has been improved by adding more stitched leather trim and padded surfaces along with several rich wood trim options.

Even though the interior dimensions haven’t changed the front and rear seats have been modified to provide improved comfort and support.  The rear bench is enhanced by optional executive seating (in the long-wheelbase cars) that can include massage and recline functions.

Restructured electronic features include a new 12.3 inch widescreen at the top of the center stack, navigation, Bluetooth phone and audio, Lexus Safety Connect emergency communications and the Lexus Enform smartphone apps.

The old touch-screen has been replaced by Remote Touch, an electronics interface that supplies a large display and “mouse-style” controller that efficiently moves among various web-based applications like Pandora, Bing and Yelp.

The 10-speaker sound system includes a CD player, HD radio, iTunes, satellite radio, auxiliary audio jack and an iPod/USB audio interface. With the Comfort package you also get a power-closing trunk, heated and cooled front seats (with climate control-linked automatic setting), and a power rear sunshade.

Changes to the suspension systems as well as the steering gives the driver more control while still providing occupants with a peaceful, quiet and comfortable ride that Lexus is known for.

Standard equipment on the LS 460 and LS 460 L includes 18-inch wheels, adaptive automatic xenon headlights, LED foglamps and running lights, auto-dimming and power-folding mirrors, automatic wipers, front and rear parking sensors, a rearview camera, a sunroof, power door closers, adjustable drive settings and keyless ignition/entry.

Options include 19-inch wheels, summer tires, LED headlights, an adjustable air suspension (with enhanced steering, ride height adjustment and additional drive settings), a blind-spot warning system with rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control with an enhanced pre-collision system, upgraded leather upholstery, heated steering wheel and a 19-speaker Mark Levinson surround-sound audio system.

Lexus’ All Weather package adds headlamp washers and a wiper de-icer.  The top-of-the-line Ultra Luxury package gives buyers four-zone climate control, six-way power rear seats (with heating, cooling and massage functions), rear-seat side airbags and rear audio controls.

The regular LS 460 can be equipped with the F Sport package which includes 19-inch wheels, Brembo brakes, a limited-slip differential (rear-wheel drive only), sport-tuned air suspension, sport-tuned steering, sportier adjustable drive settings, transmission shift paddles on the steering wheel and rev-matched downshifts.

An Executive Class Seating package can be added to the long-wheelbase LS 460 L. This delivers the Ultra Luxury package's backseat upgrades, and augments them with a two-seat configuration, center console (which includes controls, a cool box and added storage), power passenger-side ottoman, power rear side sunshades and a rear-seat DVD entertainment system with power drop-down screen.

Drive Mode Select is a significant addition for 2013, providing three modes with standard suspension (Normal, Comfort and Sport) and five modes with the air suspension (Eco, Comfort, Normal, Sport S and Sport S+).

The 2013 Lexus LS 460 is powered by a 4.6-liter V8 that produces 386 horsepower and 360 pound-feet of torque with standard rear-wheel drive. The optional all-wheel drive produces 360 hp and 347 lb-ft of torque. An eight-speed automatic transmission is standard on every LS 460.

Every 2013 Lexus LS 460 comes standard with antilock brakes, traction and stability control, front knee airbags, front side airbags, side curtain airbags and a rearview camera, as well as Lexus Safety Connect

Overall the 2013 Lexus LS 460 is a strong, silent and agile ride with maximum reliability, and that’s what Lexus is all about.
