I am basically a point and shoot guy, so my requirements for a camera are relatively low. I like its features, yet it is simple to use. The existing lens is not threaded to accept a telephoto lens, which I would like to use on occasion. I understand that it can accept filters, however.

This camera took some lovely pictures for the two weeks it worked, but one day I had it around my neck with the lens on and in off position when I slightly knocked it against the counter. When I took the cap off to take a photo, the lens pushed out and then retracted and ultimately came back out but was stuck and unable to take photos because it had an error message which told me the lens cap was still on (it was not). When I tried to turn it off/reset/trouble shoot, there was no luck, the lens was stuck in open position but unable to take photos. I took it to the camera repair shop and they told me that the lenses for these cameras can go off track if they are knocked even slightly, and the repair may cost me as much as another used camera. It was definitely a great price and package, I like to believe there was not an issue prior to sale, I did get 100 nice photos before this happened. I've owned quite a few digital cameras and I have never had one break simply with a small knock to a surface, it didn't fall 3tf, it was just a light bang and I would think the product would be sturdy enough to withstand a small amount of friction. 2nd DMC-FZ7 one I've owned, and 4th Lumix overall. One thing I hate is that my fingers are ALWAYS accidentally hitting other function buttons and enabling them, like contrast, menu, etc. It's too easy to switch these features on when I don't wish to. The master dial is also too easy to accidentally bump into other modes besides the one I was shooting in. For example, the next thing I know I've shot a bunch of poor manual shots instead of macro shots, etc. I don't like the review feature as it only shows one image at a time when in the live shooting mode and I have to start over from the function button to start reviewing the images. The battery life is also EXTREMELY short. It's impossible to locate OEM replacement batteries. One generic battery I bought on eBay wouldn't charge and was a dud- an issue with lithium-ion batteries. They'll lose their charging capacity over time. The camera is very light, lighter than the DMC-FZ5, even though it is a larger camera than the FZ5. The pixel size is fine for what I bought the Lumix- taking quick-uploading macro images of eBay items to sell. The camera is versatile and has video which is a bonus.Read full review
This is one of the best digital camersa's made. Ideal for sports and action photography. The scene modes covers just about every concievable situation that you could be faced with and the full manual mode covers everything else. The 12X Leica designed zoom lense allows you to move in close without moving for those intimate shots and the 6.0 MB resolution will reveal beautiful 14x19 enlargements. This camera competes with the best camcorder's for movie making. Quality is unbelievable. The only down side to this camera is its small memory card capacity. With its 2MB limit your movies are limited to 22 minutes and that is not acceptable. I would have rated this camera excellent if not for the memory card issue.
This is a great digital camera with fantastic feature's to capture every moment. Very simple and easy to use. Has great high definition video and takes crystal clear photo's. Excellent digital camera for a Reasonable price.
